Society?
What is society ? One can say that it's the community that we live in or our environment/ our surroundings and you would not be wrong , but have you asked yourself how they started.I never thought about it until a recent assignment that required us to research our ancestral roots. We had to discover the ways the old lived ,what they believed in ,and how their societies were formed. The societies that we had research about were the Swaties , khoisan , Nguni and the Arthurian community.
The khoisan are said to be the original or first inhabitants of the southern coast and their name comes from them not settling in a location for a long time.I learned who hunted how with what tools and how duties were divided for the men ,women and children so that everyone could feel included in the helping of the family chores.I also learned about their art and how they respected everything that had life. The artwork left a footprint that cannot be erased and they did all this without the technological advancements of today. This is from my classmates essays.
But I did an essay on the Arthurian society cause of the curiosity of what I saw on a bunch of movies based on that story(The legend of Arthur).I was surprised to find out that most of the research is based of a real person and place that was revealed in poetry of like one person and no one else has further information about that place or time, there's not much proof of the existence of that place or stories of that time except for one poet so the are students who argue that the whole story is fiction.
I learned how they lived and what type of resources and material they used to survive ,interesting how it is said that they believed in magic and christianity at the same time.Knights of the time were known for their gentleman mannerism and it's crazy what they worshiped is today considered art, the most mysterious piece of art in the world (Stonehenge).
this is fascinating! .. it's an enjoyable post with relevant information.
